Body treatments are a fundamental part of Ayurvedic therapy and are often indispensable for fast results. The skin is our main organ of absorption and is used to administer medicines in the practice of Ayurveda.
Ayurvedic body treatments possess many mental and physical benefits. One of the unique differences in Ayurvedic treatments is that it involves therapeutic considerations such as Dosha (bio-physiological Energies), Dathu (tissues), Prakriti (constitution) and pharmacological considerations.
MY PRACTICE ANA’S APPROACH
Touch is a form of communication and, as such, any kind of touch conveys a message. In the Ayurvedic system, the essence of understanding lies in the concept of prana. Nothing is subtler than the prana within the body, being prana the intelligent life-giving energy.
Prana is the dynamic principle of everything. Prana is not merely a philosophical concept, it is in every sense a physical substance. Just as electromagnetic or radio waves exist although we do not see them, so too, in this physical body, there are pranic waves and a pranic field.
Each of us has a certain amount of prana in our physical body and we use this in the course of our daily activities, throughout our whole life. When our prana decreases, disease sets in, and when we have a large amount of prana, every part of the body is in perfect health. If we have an excess of prana, it can be transmitted to others for healing or magnetism. Positive thoughts, higher feelings and yogic practices increase our prana.
My commitment to each patient is absolute. During therapy, I channel all my attention towards the person, listening to their body and sensations, applying the most appropriate techniques and directing my vital energy.
My own therapeutic practice is a reflection of what I preach, and I strive to maintain a path of health and positivity in my own life and care. By dedicating time to balance my mental and spiritual well-being, I seek to be an effective channel in therapy, staying present on all three levels: mental, physical and emotional. My approach as a therapist requires constant attention and a continuous personal effort to offer the best of myself.
Recommendations
Body treatments are recommended to almost everyone, but there are some contraindications.
If you have fever, indigestion, menstrual period, or when you have Ama, it is not advisable to do them.
What do we mean by Āma?
Āma is an Ayurvedic concept that can be understood as the accumulation of toxic substances at different levels of the physiology. A poor diet or a diet that is inadequate for the digestive capacities can produce Āma.
Āma is toxic and can block the body's channels and initiate disease and inflammatory processes.
But how do you know if your body has Āma?
Here is a test that you can do yourself to find out if you have Āma or not. I recommend that you do it before booking an appointment. If the result is positive (moderate or severe), the best thing to do is to have an individual consultation with the aim of eliminating this excess Āma, these toxins, so that we can then carry out the body treatment.
